HTC 10 With 12-Ultra Pixel-4GB Ram-Full Review

HTC company, on Tuesday unveiled HTC 10 which happened to be their latest flagship smartphone. Conspicuously, unlike previous flagships - HTC One M8 and HTC One M9, the new flagship -HTC 10 did not come with the 'One' or 'M' series monikers.

HTC says during a press release statement that the new flagship will come in two variants packing different Qualcomm Snapdragon processors suitable for two different markets, the HTC 10 and HTC 10 Lifestyle. The two species however, will feature the same display, design, camera, audio and with a similar software experience and battery longevity.

The cost of the unlocked HTC 10 version is available at the company's official website at $699. It will be available in Carbon Grey and Glacier Silver. The shipping of the smartphone will commence early May this year, and will come with HTC's Uh Oh Protection- a one time free replacement will be offered to customers within the first 12 months for a water damage or cracked screen. We are expecting HTC company to announce the pricing of the HTC 10 Lifestyle soonest. The company, apart from HTC 10, also unveiled the Ice View case with a semi-transparent cover for the handset. HTC ar yet to announced the price details for the case.


While the HTC 10 smartphone in the US will feature the Snapdragon 820 processor, the Indian variant of the flagship referred to as HTC 10 Lifestyle will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. Few noticeable differences exists in both variants and it's  dependent on region including RAM, SoC, Storage, and sapphire lens in the rear camera.

The US version of the HTC 10 runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. It comes in two editions - one featuring 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the other packing 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Both models are storage-expandable via microSD card up to 2 Terabites. The India version of the HTC 10 runs on octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and comes in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage model.

Specifications: 


The HTC 10 packs a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) Super LCD 5 display with a pixel density of 564ppi. The smartphone also boasts of curved edge Gorilla Glass.

It cruises on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC Sense running on top and supports Nano-SIM.

For Camera and optics: 

The HTC 10 comes with a 12-UltraPixel laser autofocus camera with BSI sensor, dual tone LED flash, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). It sports a f/1.8 aperture and Sapphire Lens. The company makes bold to state that the rear camera on the 10 is its new generation UltraPixels camera with 1.55 micron pixels. Other camera features found in HTC 10 include: face detection, self-timer (up to 10 seconds), RAW format support, Hyperlapse and Auto HDR. The new HTC 10 flagship also comes with a Slow motion video with support for 720P at 120fps. It also boasts of a 5-megapixel front-facing camera as well featuring autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS), BSI sensor, and auto selfie (keep still or smile).

For the Audio and Your Listening Pleasure:

The HTC 10 is being touted as  featuring the BoomSound tech with the company claiming handset "engineered for audiophiles." The BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition comes with Dolby Audio and three microphones with noise cancellation.

The Battery and Longevity in Use:

The HTC 10 features a 3000mAh battery which is rated to give up to up to 21 hours talk time on 3G networks and a standby time of up to 21 days on 3G. The HTC company states that the 10 smartphone is fitted with Power saving mode as well as Extreme power saving mode. The HTC 10 also features Quick Charge 3.0 with cool charge, which enhances good thermal management. The company claims that a 30 minutes charging can give up to 50% charged capacity.

In its official release, the company stresses that it reduced the number of preloaded and duplicative apps as well as bloatware. A new Freestyle Layout is introduced with HTC 10 and it will no longer have an on-screen grid. The company is leaving it to the users to choose their own set of apps by allowing dragging icons, stickers and widgets anywhere on the home screen.

Connectivity options on the HTC 10:

Includes GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 4.2, DLNA, NFC, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G. The the HTC 10 Lifestyle is compatible with 4G LTE bands.
