MTN Internet Settings and Configurations
You need the right settings for you to start enjoyingg higgh speed internet on your device. The following steps should be followed to get ready for an unbeatable internet experience.
Your MTN-branded USB modem or data card has already been configured so you do not have to worry.
- If you don't have MTN-branded or configured device, you can request for MTN's internet browsing settings (referred to as APN settings or packet data settings on some phones) by typing the word SETTINGS as an SMS and send to 3888. It is free of charge.
- The requested settings will be sent to you via SMS, please save the settings as soon as they are delivered to your phone to avoid deleting them in error.
- If you are currently enjoying Internet browsing with your data enabled handset on MTN's data network, there is possibility that your handset is already configured to use MTN's data network. However, you can still send SETTINGS to 3888 to make assurance double sure!
Manual Configuration of Settings
For handsets or other devices that need to be configured manually (e.g. iphones, Windows-based handsets etc), you will need to configure the data settings on your handset with the settings information provided below:
WEB settings – for smartphones ( iOS & Android)

- Username:
- Password:
- Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
WAP settings – for WAP/Feature phones
- Account Name: MTN WAP
- IP address (Proxy): 10.199.212.2
- Port: 9201
- Username: web
- Password: web
- Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
