The looks versus practicality argument divided the last two generations of Samsung Galaxy S and HTC One. This difference is eroded by the revamped design of Samsung, while HTC stepped up its camera game.

The Android world was ruled by hTC, but has been supplanted by Samsung. However, last year the businesses' trajectories were turning again - as HTC's streak of quarters were in the red, Samsung's streak of record gains ended.

This lit a fire to change the bases of its design. The newest slim body of metal and glass is a large step forward from the Galaxy S5. It was not a sudden reboot however, Samsung iterated the design first with the Galaxy Alpha subsequently with the Galaxy Note 4 to make sure the Galaxy S6 comes out great.
Some (HTC designers and fans alike) will maintain you can not improve on perfection. Appearances aside, the One M9 misses out on some fashionable hardware as well - QHD screen, fingerprint reader, wireless charging.

If that's enough, weare going to need to see.
To warm things up here's the blow-by-blow of the "specs on paper" round.

HTC One M9 Vs Samsung Galaxy S6

  • Alloy unibody vs. metal and glass body
  • Stereo speakers
  • Higher resolution camera - 20.7MP vs 16MP; dual-LED flash
  • Expandable storage
  • Bigger battery - 2,840mAh vs. 2,550mAh, both sealed

Samsung will have no problems in presenting the Galaxy S6 as a completely new, considerably improved apparatus. The style is not old, the screen is QHD, the camera has optical image stabilization, the fingerprint scanner is an improved layout and so on.

Having said that, it is making a wager that nearly all consumers don't care about removable batteries and expandable storage.
The look is the same, the display is the same, there's no fingerprint scanner, the stereo loudspeakers are old perk. The PR team can crow with 2160p video in regards to the high resolution camera. The old UltraPixel is not yet dead, it's now serving duties that are selfie - amazing for low light pictures from a night out.

Obviously, both phones are constructed around strong and new chipsets. Samsung went a unique way to leverage its production advantage - the 14nm process keeps the chipset running cool while the fundamental design is not too distinct. Snapdragon 810 on the other hand has had issues keeping cool, which reduces its performance potential.

With all that HTC can claim to get the better loudspeakers and the more superior layout, while Samsung will point to the narrower, lighter chassis and sharper display.

Can you please choose the winner of the two for us?
